9th Card Dealt [Action/Voice]

[Another wave of New Feathers, some of them familiar faces, has filled Gambit with an overabundance of restless energy... moreso than usual, even. And so, bright and early, he's out at the Battle Dome to blow off steam. It's also a good way to work through any number of restless thoughts he's been stewing over lately. At least, in Gambit Terms, it's a good way of getting thinking done.

After fighting off waves of zombies, knocking a building down on Sabretooth, and blowing up Malnosso droid lookalikes, he's settling down a bit into a basketball game.

"A little bit" because every few successful baskets, he charges the ball and blows up the basket.

Gotta keep things interesting, after all.

And of all things to get him thinking, this is it...]

[Voice]

Y'know, I been here a year already an' it's 'bout time I asked about this.

We got people wit' all kindsa powers 'round here, right? Shootin' fireballs an' summonin' wind outta nowhere? There's gotta be someone in this place who can drop a slab of cement down for a basketball court, neh? Grass an' dirt roads don't work as good for that kinda t'ing.

Anybody who can magic up a good flat surface, lemme know. An' anyone up for a game once it's thrown down? Lemme know that, too. Game ain't as much fun solo.

Few games after workin' your tail off ain't gonna do you any harm, mon ami. But to each his own.

That right? You up to something else besides bouncing a ball around?

[That was the implication he picked up, anyway. Logan is mildly curious about what Gambit does in this place besides sports.]

Always. Gotta switch t'ings up, keep it interestin', non?

[He might dump a building on someone else next time, for example. Although there's something wonderfully satisfying about it being Sabertooth.]

Speakin' of interesting, mind givin' a demonstration? Just to 'switch things up'.

[He hasn't seen Gambit in action since the Hulk. He's curious to see what the Cajun has up his sleeves these days.]

[Gambit eyes him for a split second, silently weighing the option of running the same simulation or picking a different one. Yes, beating on Sabertooth is fun (and entirely too satisfying), but that could backfire.

But then again, so could covering up what his 'swtiching things up' entailed.

So he gives a careless shrug.]

Since you asked so nice....

[Re-running the Sabertooth simulation it is. With a flick of a switch, he's got the scenario back up. Broad daylight, an abandoned construction zone, and Sabertooth raging mad. Not that he ever wasn't. But there it is.

He flashes Wolverine a grin before folding out his bo staff.]

Ready or not, here he comes.

[snikting]

[Logan at first starts to growl at the sight of Sabertooth and is about to pop his claws out.

But then he has a better idea. He stands still and crosses his arms. Time to do this X-Men style.]

Beatin' Sabertooth ain't much of a feat, Gumbo. Now, if you can keep 'im from touchin' me? Then I'll be impressed.

[Ah, doing this X-Men style. Gambit's grin only widens.]

You say that like it's s'posed to be a challenge.

[And he keeps fairly still at first, as if he's not going to care at all, before taking the show-off route and launching himself right over Sabertooth before the big ox can mow him down. And then whacks him in the back of the head to lure him away from Wolverine.

It's definitely a little trickier, keeping Sabertooth's attention when there's someone else standing in here, but he's got this. You don't spend any amount of time as an Acolyte without figuring out exactly how to get under every other Acolyte's skin... at least, if your name happens to be Gambit.

Which is why he's running his mouth as he continues to poke small jabs at Sabertooth to hold his attention. Inane stories about idiot thieves in New Orleans. {Hey, Thibodeaux got himself into some crazy situations, it's totally a great story.) It's working like a charm... although it stands a pretty decent chance of irritating the hell out of Wolverine, as well.]

[snikting]

[Logan is impressed, though he isn't showing it. Mostly because of how annoyed he looks.]

You keep that up, an' I might just help furball out in takin' you down.

[kineticcajun]

[Yeah, Gambit's picked up on Wolverine's annoyance. It's. Not slowing him down much.]

You changin' the rules of the game on me, homme?

[And he's got Sabertooth right where he wants him, by a pile of precariously stacked steel girders. He's perched up on the pile when he deliberately pauses long enough for Sabertooth to pounce, charges the girder beneath him, and bails out of the way, rolling when he hits the ground. Which is good, because that girder goes boom before the stack collapses, Sabertooth in tow.

And Gambit cracks his neck, grinning.]

'Cause I t'ink it might be a bit too late for changin' 'em.

[snikting]

[Not bad. But Logan just snorts.]

Am I supposed to be impressed? Even the elf could've managed that without any trouble. If yer gonna make a sparring partner, seems to me you might want to choose something a little more difficult.

[kineticcajun]

"Make a sparrin' partner"? Is that what I was tryin' to do?

[Feigned ignorance, he has it.

Also, he folds his bo back up, pockets it, and dusts off his hands.]

Didn't realize this was an audition.

[snikting]

It ain't. Just seein' what you're capable of.

[His tone indicates he wasn't impressed.]
