5th Card Dealt [Action]
[Gambit is back from his mission today, and, much as he hates to admit it, he's exhausted. It's not often that he gets worn out, but this mission definitely managed it. But still, tired as he is, he's got a few things to attend to before he heads back to his apartment. He just means to knock them out as quickly as he can so that he can knock out as quickly as he can.
And so, early afternoon finds him slipping into the Item Shop, careful not to make a sound on the way in, so he can leave a card - a joker, to be specific - on the counter as a sign that he's gotten back safely. His way back out isn't quite as quiet as he'd been hoping, though, and just before the door shuts, the bell goes off. Merde. So much for that.
Once that's done, it's off to the grocery store. Food. Food is definitely needed before he sleeps. Too hungry not to eat.
After nearly ten minutes of staring blankly at spices - he suspects he may have fallen asleep on his feet - Gambit shakes his head and decides to just grab a can of soup and some instant cornbread. Nevermind cooking. Easy stuff. Quick.
He hates cooking this kind of stuff, but pride be damned, he's too tired.
Eventually, he finds his way through the town and back to CH1 to make aforementioned soup and lurch his way into his apartment to sleep, but it's very slow going. Feel free to run into him anywhere on his journey~]

Mmm? Oh. I think for the most part people call him Obi-Wan or perhaps Obi, but he does not seem to mind my calling him Ben. Why- wait. I know that smile. What are you thinking? That is a thinking smile, Rems.
[Any and all attempts to be stern fail, however, with how much lighter she felt after that fit of laughter and the knowledge that Gambit was safe and home.]

Nothin'. Jus' that I ain't really heard of Jedis bein' much for nicknames.
[Drinking this Dr. Pepper now. Not plotting Valentine's cracks. Nope.]

He is the first Jedi I have met in person, and he did not seem to mind it, as I said. He is...one of the first friends I've made here, aside from you Remy.
no subject
Haven't run into him yet m'self. Had Luke Skywalker along for the mission, though. He ain't too bad either.
[Having a Jedi for a mission leader is not a bad thing.]

...I think he still has my scarf.
[Adele nibbles on the cornbread, blinks and stares at it a moment before smiling. Helios, never again will she bother you about how long it takes to bake something. Ever.]
no subject
Not needin' a replacement scarf, are you?

Pausing just long enough to get another spoonful of stew into his mouth, he gets up, pads over to where he has his coat and winter things hanging up by the door, and comes back with a black scarf, which he puts down next to her. And then it's back to his seat.]
'Til you get the time to grab another one. I ain't goin' back out 'til I've gotten some sleep, so I'm not gonna need it. All yours for now, doc.
[Don't you argue, either. He's set on this.]
no subject
Merci. I'll return it once I have my own again. [And she will return it. With cookies, if Helios and Ginia made them, which they would.]
no subject
No rush. Seems like we got another cold snap comin' through anyway. Not much motivation to leave my apartment.
[After another swig of soda, he pauses thoughtfully and adds,] Not that it ain't cold enough now anyway.

To be honest? Bedrest. For at least three days Rems, you were fit to fall asleep on your feet when I saw you and however long you were trying not to sleep on the sofa hasn't done you any favors. So you've an excuse to stay in.
no subject
[Although he gives her a wary look, as if silently sizing her up. He's never been good about listening to doctor's instructions. Friendly advice is one thing, but medical instruction is another.]
...Unless that's doctor's orders 'bout the bedrest.

[Adele sips her beverage without further comment on the matter and sets the can down, brow quirked. Ah, that look. It takes a bit to repress a snide comment on Remy's mental state, he wasn't the man she'd known and wouldn't appreciate it. No, he was younger, prouder, and would better respond to a different approach.]
I would worry about you if you wandered around the village as you were today Rems. Especially if the weather takes a turn for the worse. [She reaches over to take on of her hands in hers, squeezing it.] Just...take a few days to rest. Please?
no subject
You got it. But I oughta be back on my feet my tomorrow.

If he's half as good at beignets as he is at cornbread, you won't find me turnin' it down.

Merde. Out of cornbread. Getting himself some more.]
no subject
Before she knew it Adele had finished her wedge of cornbread as well, but as she is slighter and taking up various forms of exercise and training again, she feels she doesn't need another. She contents herself with the stew and her soda.]
You can keep the tin of cornbread Rems, don't worry about sending it, or the pot, back with me. We have plenty at the house.
no subject
'preciate it. An' let Helios know I said thanks too.
no subject
[As much as she wants to stay and make sure Remy sleeps, she knows full well her company would only make him feel like he should stay up, talk to her, and he needs his rest. She'll talk to him when he's no longer half dead from exhaustion.]
no subject
[And he means that, too. Even with his stubborn pride in place, he's too tired to even try sassing her about this. Once he's either full or out of food, he's passing out, thanks.]
no subject
I'm glad your safe.
[One last squeeze and she steps back, clearing her throat.] Rest, Rems. I will see you tomorrow.
no subject
Ain't goin' anywhere. 'least not that I know of.
[Grin.] You take it easy too, doc.
