5th Card Dealt [Action]

[Gambit is back from his mission today, and, much as he hates to admit it, he's exhausted. It's not often that he gets worn out, but this mission definitely managed it. But still, tired as he is, he's got a few things to attend to before he heads back to his apartment. He just means to knock them out as quickly as he can so that he can knock out as quickly as he can.

And so, early afternoon finds him slipping into the Item Shop, careful not to make a sound on the way in, so he can leave a card - a joker, to be specific - on the counter as a sign that he's gotten back safely. His way back out isn't quite as quiet as he'd been hoping, though, and just before the door shuts, the bell goes off. Merde. So much for that.

Once that's done, it's off to the grocery store. Food. Food is definitely needed before he sleeps. Too hungry not to eat.

After nearly ten minutes of staring blankly at spices - he suspects he may have fallen asleep on his feet - Gambit shakes his head and decides to just grab a can of soup and some instant cornbread. Nevermind cooking. Easy stuff. Quick.

He hates cooking this kind of stuff, but pride be damned, he's too tired.

Eventually, he finds his way through the town and back to CH1 to make aforementioned soup and lurch his way into his apartment to sleep, but it's very slow going. Feel free to run into him anywhere on his journey~]

[He gives a soft snort of amusement at the nickname revenge. Serves Tony right. The man called him "Gamby", he deserves whatever anyone can throw at him.]

Ain't that the point, though? [Wailing on people, he means.] Who'd you get matched up against that they kicked you 'round so much?

Spada. Never met him. For the record, I bloodied him too...[and it was his own fault for wanting to brawl after Daisy gave him a firm punt for flirting and blowing up the apartment beneath hers.] It's no biggie--what about you? You're looking pretty shitty yourself, what gives?

[If he was any less exhausted, he'd have several jokes lined up to answer that with, but he just. Can't summon up the energy.]

Didn't get kicked around, if that's what you're askin'. Jus' got back from a trip to the jungle, that's all.

[This soup selection sucks, by the way. Remy squints at the shelves, frowning a bit, trying to narrow down his pickyness enough to just grab something and eat it.]

[Lupin is about ready to abandon the cans and go for the instant noodles himself. He had a kettle and they were ready in just a few minutes. When in a pinch, there wasn't much that was quicker and still edible.]

Jungle, huh? [There had been no drafts...was it a mission?] See anything interesting?

[Gambit's pride as a nitpicky chef won't allow him the leeway to go for instant noodles. This stuff isn't much better, but at least it isn't powdered 'gumbo' flavor. Scowling a bit, he picks up a can and starts eyeing it critically.]

Sort of. [Absently turning the can over.] Recon mission. Had us keepin' an eye on the wingnuts for a few days.

Recon...that's interesting.

[Now you've gotten his interest Gambit. However, in light of the fact that they're both in rough shape, he'll refrain from asking about it.

Hm. [He tries not to get too wrapped up in details on anything with recon missions, honestly. The last time he did, he found way more than he bargained for. While he has some details squirreled away in his memory, he's not thinking about them too much for now.]

Word to the wise, mon ami. They offer a mission in that jungle? Don't take it unless you feel like havin' even the plants out to get you.

Yeah. M'used to gators an' all, but at least the plants in the bayou don't bite.

[Chicken and rice. He can spruce that up into something acceptable without needing too much actual cooking. Maybe this.]

Gators are one thing; plants are another!

[He was still leaning toward the instant noodles, maybe that variety with the flavored bean curd in it...]

Got that right. I'll take gators any day over the plants.

[Yeah. Chicken and rice. He'll need a few spices, but it's doable. He pockets the can of soup and then glances over at Lupin amusedly.]

Still tryin' to pick the least of the evils?

Trying to figure out the one that's the least offensive. Too bad we don't have any gators here; I hear some places in the US South eat them like chicken nuggets!

[The noodles are the winner, however. Load them with something spicy and no one cares about the difference.]

It ain't bad. Tastes kinda like chicken. [As he says this so calmly, it dawns on him that this is the reason he will always be "swamp rat" in some way.]

Only t'ing is findin' someone who makes it good.
