5th Card Dealt [Action]

[Gambit is back from his mission today, and, much as he hates to admit it, he's exhausted. It's not often that he gets worn out, but this mission definitely managed it. But still, tired as he is, he's got a few things to attend to before he heads back to his apartment. He just means to knock them out as quickly as he can so that he can knock out as quickly as he can.

And so, early afternoon finds him slipping into the Item Shop, careful not to make a sound on the way in, so he can leave a card - a joker, to be specific - on the counter as a sign that he's gotten back safely. His way back out isn't quite as quiet as he'd been hoping, though, and just before the door shuts, the bell goes off. Merde. So much for that.

Once that's done, it's off to the grocery store. Food. Food is definitely needed before he sleeps. Too hungry not to eat.

After nearly ten minutes of staring blankly at spices - he suspects he may have fallen asleep on his feet - Gambit shakes his head and decides to just grab a can of soup and some instant cornbread. Nevermind cooking. Easy stuff. Quick.

He hates cooking this kind of stuff, but pride be damned, he's too tired.

Eventually, he finds his way through the town and back to CH1 to make aforementioned soup and lurch his way into his apartment to sleep, but it's very slow going. Feel free to run into him anywhere on his journey~]

[Gambit may not be that much taller, but he still has a few inches on this kid. And once he's got his soup warming up, he gives the boy a measuring look out of the corner of an eye.

Dammit, LeBeau, there is no need to butt in and be kitchen master here. There isn't.

What- No! I'm a good cook, I'm even working on Seventh Heaven, so I'm respectable!

[He just... can't quite reach the second row on this particular stove as well as he would like when he's using a giant pan like this. His tail even flicks in annoyance]

Whatever you say, homme.

[Just. Stirring that second row pot. He can't just stand here and let something start to burn on the bottom.]

Dude what are you even saying. [He huffs at Gambit doing that for him, but distracts with the language]

Never you mind, boy. Keep an eye on your rice, wouldja.

[Merde. He doesn't even want to help with this and he can't stop himself. Focus on the soup, LeBeau. Soup.]

I've cooked a lot in my day, I'll have you, know, old timer!

[HUFF]

Didja need a phone book for it?

[whoops, that slipped out without him meaning to say it. Oh well.]

Look whose talking, bulb top!

[No reaction. After how much Jubilee ragged on his hair, he's built up immunity. He gives Rin's back-burner pot one last stir, then turns back to stir his soup. It's pretty much warmed up, should only need another minute or so.]

At leas' I can reach stuff on the back burner.

[...and then he catches the eyes] At least my eyes don't look like some weird bird thing.

[Even though he. Hair a tail. and slight fangs and lightly points ears but no one ever notices the second two]

[Boy, you are so lucky he's too tired to dish it back tonight.]

"Bird t'ing"? That's a new one.

[Demon, sure. Monster, okay. Freak is hardly anything new. But bird?]

Well it... looks... like something. Maybe more like a rat or something?

[.........FUUUUH]

Swamp rat, maybe?

[He sounds more amused than anything. Soup is now warm, but he's going to add in a few spices to improve the flavor first.]

[he does a quick check to both of his pans - definitely needs to simmer more, turning down the heat, capping the one in the second row with a bit of effort. Pouting, sort of]

Don'chu put insults in my mouth.

Jus' supplyin' some ideas.

[He pauses to taste-test the soup, makes a face, and adds some more pepper. Damn you, Campbells.]

Right. So who even are you - I think I've seen you around?

Name's Gambit. I live on this floor. [He is also the fool who threw an exploding sofa off the roof not too long ago, but y'know.]

[WHAT! Wait- going to try to grab Gambit by the scruff of his neck] I'm not that short!

[And he answers that by applying just enough of a charge to his coat so that he'll make a point. The fact that the fabric is heating up rapidly may be a hint to let go.]

Jus' kiddin', shorty. Take it easy. You got some food to keep an eye on here.

[Actually... he totally misses the head. He lights on fire with flames enough to put most things Gambit can probably juice up to utter shame, so he's slightly immune. It's really more the light glow which I am assuming is canon and not just some Evo thing?? idek which tips him off. that and Gambit keeping his cool, which still pisses him off, so he just shoves him back a bit (note the super strength, strong as five grown men here) lightly before turning back to his curry with a huff]

[Gambit manages to catch himself before being thrown too far back, but he still stumbles a bit. Merde, the kid's got some power in him. He quirks an eyebrow as Rin turns back to the curry, shakes his head, and decides that it's something he'll just have to keep in mind next time he pushes this kid's buttons.]

'Course not. Professional an' all. [He goes back to poking at his soup, which finally has taken on an acceptable flavor now that the pepper has had time to warm through it. This'll have to do. Gambit picks up his soup pot.]

I'll jus' leave you to it, then.

[This is a awkward way to end the night. He nods, but as he sees Gambit seeming ready to finish up - no idea if he'll just go to his room or the opposite side of the room or even just stay there so...]
