[Gambit has been a frequent visitor of the Battle Dome lately. Not that he wasn't shy about visiting it before, but ever since the moon fell, he's been working out the excess irritation through copious amounts of explosions. Early today, he goes through his usual training of increasing difficulty in the Battle Dome, working his way up from a warmup into an all-out survival match worthy of the Danger Room the X-Men had back home. Despite the chains of explosions, he still emerges from it all without a scratch.

After cooling down by just wandering idly around the Battle Dome for a while, it's back out into the snow. And Remy hates snow. For one, bad memories (babysitting Wolverine and Sabertooth both in a snowstorm is not a fun experience); but also, he's just not built for snow. Thank god for this nice warm coat.

After a brief trip into the grocery store, he's heading back to his apartment to make some gumbo. Nevermind all this winter weather noise, it's time for something hot and spicy to warm up with.

Eventually, after checking to see if the snow has stopped - and seeing that it hasn't - he'll turn to the journals.]

Is it always this cold this early 'round here? Or is this jus' a sign we're in for a real rough winter?

[Eyebrows. Former terrorists laughing schoolbus being blown up jokes = uncertain. But she'll pass over that for now.] Must be a relief ta be on your own.

It ain't half bad. Not used to the quiet, though.

[Going from the thieves to the Acolytes to here, this is the first he's actually had some moments of peace.

Kickin' around the idea of goin' out on your own again?

[A light smirk, although she is surprised at the question. Why would she, in a place like this? And Rogue shakes her head, her expression unaccountably soft for a moment.]

Nah. [They came for me.]

Though if I was hangin' around with those yahoos, I could see the appeal.

[He gives an amused snrk for the yahoos comment. It's honestly a pretty good way to sum it all up.]

Yeah, you got de advantage of not havin' housemates who burn stuff for laughs.

[There's a playful spark in his eye as he goes on to tease a bit.] I'd say you got your hands full enough with fur on the furniture, but we had that, too.

[Well maybe he recovered from that imaginary slip because there was a sudden gust of wind that buffered him up to keep him from falling on his bottom. The weather does odd things here, sometimes, really...]

[When he does face her, she'll have both hands clasped in front of her, clearing her throat a little.]

As it happens, I am not. My body compensates for changes in the temperature, so I rarely feel cold...

It's no problem. I heard last year wasn't as bad as the year before that, though.

[That crazy weather around here! Wind gusts coming out of nowhere. Must have something to do with the snow. Right.

He cracks a slight grin.]

I shoulda figured it was somethin' like that. Pretty handy in weather like dis.

Kinda unpredictable, then? Seems like that'd fit the way everythin' else is done 'round here.

[Shrugging.]

It's useful for any weather, really. After all, what use is being able to alter the weather if my body couldn't handle the changes?

Makes sense.

[Adjusting the bag he's carrying. The imaginary slip shifted around some of the contents.]

Almost wish I could change the weather right about now.

[Would offer to help carry those, but. Keeping a perfectly respectabl distance here, yes.]

Is that right? Does the cold not agree with you, Gambit?

Still... it must have been some pretty big checks he was writing you, yeah?

[Assuming, anyway. Kurt doesn't know much about the guy, but Colossus wasn't in it for Magneto's ideals. And Gambit doesn't seem to be the type to care either. So...]

[He gives an offhanded shrug. "Does not agree" is putting it lightly. "Causes hilarious slips and falls" is more accurate, but he will never admit to that out loud.]

Doesn't really snow much in the bayou. Hardly ever, actually. Jus' gotta get used to it.

I see. But I hope you're not having too much trouble preparing for the winter. By my guess, we'll be seeing a lot more snow even before the month is over.

[Kurt, your subtlety could use some work. And so Gambit just answers that question with another question.]

Why, not thinkin' about askin' Magneto for your allowance, are you? Shouldn't you try mowin' lawns or somethin' first?

[There is just the faintest flicker in his eyes to betray the inward groan at that thought.]

Maybe I oughta stock up a bit more, then. Wasn't really expectin' a foot'a snow before it even got to be Christmas.

[Hey, he's new at this okay, cut him some slack.]

Hey, I just figured there was no harm asking, yeah? It's not like I'll remember once we're back home.

[You're not really helping your own case, man.]

Don't worry about t'ings like that, furball. Ain't any business of the good guys to be askin' after Magneto's payroll anyhow.

[And at that she'll finally peer closer at what he's got in his arms.]

And just what have you been stocking up on, exactly?

I'm pretty sure that makes it really my business. I'm just ahh... avoiding the Batman style interrogation.

Jus' some stuff for gumbo. [No harm in not hiding it, after all. Here, he'll even tilt the bag enough for her to peek if she wants.] Figured somethin' spicy would be good today.

[Wry grin.] Startin' to wonder if maybe I shoulda gotten more.

That so. [Kurt would make a terrible Batman.]

Is he around here? Maybe you oughta take some tips.

[Easy on the brother jokes, man. Up go those eyebrows again.] I'd say the two hardly compare.

[Sabertooth happens to be one of her least favorite people.]

Nah, not really. You got me there. [Fuzz is about the only thing in common. But he'll leave it at that and almost absently fish out one last bag of her coffee that he can spot near the very back, handing it out for her to take.]
